Lauren Comerato (b. 1997) was born and raised in Framingham, Massachusetts, where she currently resides. Growing up in her father’s childhood neighborhood and across the street from her grandparents, family has always been a core facet of her life, and thus her work. Comerato’s work utilizes a variety of techniques, spanning the realm of fibers, sculpture, painting and installation. Whether she is weaving, crocheting or creating doilies out of silicone caulking, she utilizes the fiber techniques passed down to her by the matriarchs in her family.

Comerato’s work has been shown in various juried group shows including, String Theory at the Cape Cod Cultural Center, Tenuous Thread at the Atlantic Gallery in NYC, The Perfect Age: Reflections on the passage of time at the Hera Gallery in Wakefield, RI, and Connectivity at the Attleboro Art Museum in MA, where she received the jurors award. Recently, she has also been included in a variety of publications including Issue #9 of Art Trouvee Magazine, and the Penn State Journal for Arts and Sciences Winter Edition.
Comerato is also a Visual Arts Educator at Brookline High School, teaching metals, sculpture and drawing. For the past three years, she taught sculpture, ceramics and painting at Framingham High School. Her artistic and pedagogical practices are intertwined, each informing one another. Comerato received both a Bachelors and Master of Fine Arts from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Boston, Massachusetts.
